How to choose the right brush for your dog's coat
Choosing the right brush is one of the most important decisions to keep your dog healthy. Each coat type has different needs, and a suitable brush makes grooming easier while preserving your companion's skin and fur. Here's our PawGlow guide to help you make the right choice.
For short, smooth coats (Labrador, Beagle, Boxer): A rubber brush or grooming glove is sufficient to remove loose hair and make the coat shine. Weekly brushing is usually enough.
For long, silky coats (Yorkshire, Shih Tzu, Cocker): Opt for a fine-toothed detangling brush to prevent knots. Daily brushing is recommended to prevent matting.
For dense, double coats (Husky, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever): Choose an undercoat rake or a robust detangling brush, especially during shedding seasons when hair loss intensifies.
For curly or wiry coats (Poodle, Bichon): A metal-pin brush and a wide-tooth comb help preserve curls without breaking them.
Our PawGlow tips: Always brush in the direction of the fur, be gentle around sensitive areas, and reward your dog to associate grooming with a pleasant experience. A well-maintained coat means a happy and healthy dog!
